Norfolk & Western Railway Heritage Unit Gets A Run At The Hill With 2 Other Locos & A Very Heavy Train. 2 Locos On Front & 1 Switcher On The Rear. Leaking Railroad Car & Bar Code Freight Cars Still In Use! Heritage Unit Goes Under Me, Look Down Into The Loaded Cars!
All kinds of Live Action in this video! Don’t know where to start. We have a train with 3 locomotives including a switcher on the rear, we have a Heritage Unit, a leaking rock car, a good run at the hill and we watch a loaded rock train go under us with a Heritage Unit leading!
The video starts with a heavy train loaded with grain, raw railroad ties and stone. The train has 2 locomotives on the front and a locomotive on the rear. The rear locomotive is being pulled to Afton Yard where it will shove the corn loads into Purina. The Norfolk & Western Railway Heritage Unit will be painted soon in CCET colours. This is the Cincinnati Eastern Railroad which is a 69 route mile short line railroad that leases the Peavine Line from Norfolk Southern Railroad.
Listen to the N&W locomotive working hard while it lifts the train up the curvy hill. One of the rock cars had a small leak and was helping to ballast the line. You can see that at the 7:30 point in the video.
After the train chase, we go to the very east end of the line. Here we watch a loaded rock train go under Nixon Ave in Peebles, Ohio. This is just a couple miles west of the quarry which is the last customer on this end of the line. Not only can you look down into the rock loads but you also get a good look at the top of the N&W Heritage Unit. Have you ever seen the top of locomotives like this? We also get a nice greeting from the conductor riding the train! That was awesome! They had just swapped out empties for loads and were heading towards downtown Peebles. This was part of a Photo Charter. There will be a Part 2 and you won’t want to miss it! I got some interesting video of the charter to say the least. It was a rainy miserable day but I made the most of it. I also will post Shorts of it with interesting content.
