I OAN News I USS Ted Stevens Joins U.S. Navy Fleet in Alaska

The USS Ted Stevens has officially joined the U.S. Navy fleet after being commissioned in Whittier, Alaska.

The new Flight III Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer honors the legacy of longtime Alaska Sen. Ted Stevens, a decorated World War II veteran and longtime advocate for Alaska and the U.S. military.

Officials also highlighted Alaska’s strategic importance to U.S. national defense and the importance of a strong maritime industrial base as the Navy works toward President Trump’s “Golden Fleet” initiative.
