The CIA has declassified 71 President’s Daily Brief products covering the period from 1998 through September 12, 2001, offering new insight into the intelligence community’s warnings about al-Qaida before the 9/11 attacks. The collection totals 101 pages.
Among the documents are warnings about potential attacks inside the United States, threats to U.S. interests, and al-Qaida’s plans involving U.S. aircraft. One brief from December 1998 specifically warned that Osama bin Laden’s network was preparing for attacks in the U.S., including an aircraft hijacking.
