Pollster Jim McLaughlin discusses the 2026 midterm elections and whether the race could be framed as a choice between free-market capitalism and big-government socialism.
McLaughlin cites polling from McLaughlin & Associates. The firm’s August national survey found that when voters were presented with that ideological framing, the free-market-capitalist candidate received 47% compared with 40% for the big-government-socialist candidate.
McLaughlin also discusses the generic congressional ballot, economic concerns and voter sentiment heading into the 2026 midterms.
