U.S. now Holds Strait of Hormuz as Iran and Oman Discuss New Navigation Corridor

The Strait of Hormuz remains a major flashpoint as Iran and Oman discuss a proposed temporary navigation corridor that could allow ships to safely transit the strategic waterway.

The joint proposal includes plans for a temporary navigational corridor, mine-clearing operations and negotiations over the future administration of the strait.

President Donald Trump says the U.S. Navy has cleared all mines in the Strait of Hormuz and will have zero tolerance for future mine placement. The report also cites more than 500 ships passing through the southern channel over the past month.
