Katana of the Hill…

This is my show. King of Hill was so close to being the best cartoon in history. Second only to the ” Classic Era” (first 8 seasons) of The Simpsons. Before Jerk A$$ Homer appeared and then the show coasted with the “Zombie Simpsons” to this very day. They should reassemble that classic Classic Era Simpsons writing team again and then go all out with a solid 8 more seasons of of Classic Homer, doing classic dumba$$ stuff, yet always for a noble reason. And that folks, is what embiggenns even the smallest of shorts from The Tracy Uhlman show, to become the Juggernaut that it is today. Truly, the most perfectly cromulent cartoon show ever. Then there is King of the Hill. From that first season all the way through til the end, and now back, on again, they were always the “real world” based cartoon. I think its the hair in the Simpsons that does it, but it just doesn’t seem “real” as KOTH. Every single episode of that entire show is excellent. Hilarious in fact. A solid 40% of my humor (The Simpsons comprising 50% and only 10% is my own original material) is derived from that show, even if I am only laughing with myself. Being thrown into that doomed spot of an “After Simpsons show” did not hold high hopes. However, to my surprise and delight and the shows success (i was maybe 11-12 years old) it was hilarious. Anytime it aired, I was on it. Then came a number of years where cartoon network would play it, 2 episodes a day, in order, with numerous airings per night. That is when I really got into it. As an adult, I got everything. All the stuff I didn’t grasp as a child, I now understood and laughed until my stomach and face hurt. Seeing the episode “Jumpin’ Crack Bass” as a 12, possibly 13 year old, watching that honestly made me aspire to be a drug dealer. (its a long story but the economics and “anarchistic” nature of that buisiness siphoning off capital and working seperate from, but fully within the confines of and using the currency of the capitalist system that is America dawned on me that day as a still fresh faced little communist child, but that is a story for another video). I feel like I grew up with Bobby in a way. Then the later years with Tom Petty as “Lucky” were great. So many great one liners. Dale. Bill. Boomhauer. Principal Moss. Then, if it could not get any better. Danny Trejo as “Octavio” “i said nkw we drink!”. Reverend Stroup.. “Methodism is a rejection of Calvinism”. Cotton Hill “I killed fity men”. The Soupenousenphomes. i always though they should make a spin off with them after the show first ended. Sadly we’ve seen Brittany Murphy get most likely killed by the Diddler, Tom Petty passing away, and the more recent loss of the guy who voiced John Redcorn. Even still they came out with new seasons, building right where they left off. Same humor. same characters, just aged to today. What an age we live in. Thanks for reading. if you’ve actually read the entirety of this literary abortion, let me know what you think in the comments…
